3/20 PS: First real BMW
First real BMW car was launched in 1932. 3/20 PS was launched with a 2 doors closed body like a break model and convertible with 4 seats. The new car had almost nothing in commune with Dixi.

Using a double-cannular structure and an independent front suspension the car was offering the same driving sensations as a car from a superior class. Once the 3/20 model was appearing, the engineering were designing not only a car, but also a new engine and all this in only 1 year.

At Eisenach will be built only the body of the car and in Munchen was the factory for creating the new 4 cylinders engine. This new engine was developing 20 hp, having a Cc of 783 cm2 and used proportional overhead valves, being also noiseless than its English predecessor. More than that, the car was offering a higher comfort. In the same time, the constructors from Munchen and Eisenach were thinking on a more powerful engine to make the sales raise.
