BMW a live legend - Part 5
326: BMW is in top
On February, 15th in 1939, BMW was the sensation at International Auto Show in Berlin. BMW 326 was BMW’s debut at innovation class with its style and high technology. Constructors had created a middle class model, completely new, using a small chassis like a box with a big torque, silence model and transversal springs for the front axis.
BMW, 326
BMW 326 was available in berlin variant, but also in 2 and 4 doors, convertible.
326 was one of the greatest cars for that time. It was the first BMW with fluid body, hydraulic brakes and a hide spare. It had a 6 cylinders propeller, 2.0 litres in line, and 2 carburettors, a maximum power of 50 hp, 4 speeds gear box and clutch. Its top speed was 115 km/h. 326 was loved by the audience. With almost 16,000 units sold this model was the best car sold after the Second World War Even so, this car was an exclusively choice. The 2 doors convertible model cost was 6,650 RM (Reichsmark). I want to compare this price with a future Volkswagen car which cost was 1,000 RM, even this price was to high for most of people.
