Plastic Rims

In the near future, alloy rims could be replaced by plastic rims. These rims are realized by a combination between plastic and glass (glass-reinforced plastic GRP) and have as an advantage their light weight. It is normal that a plastic rim to weight less than an alloy one. The same will be with the price; it will be less than the price for an alloy rim. Although the project isn’t new, this kind of rims weren’t tested before. But this thing changed once with the creation of a new testing lab at the European Examination Center Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft.
This is the way to test the durability and resistance of plastic rims. Until now, few prototypes were successfully tested, resisting at over 250,000 km of simulations.
