Ford Shelby GR-1 Concept
Ford Shelby was and is a real success all the time. But, after big selling and notice rising, it seems that the assembly line will be forced to shut down, because the GT doesn’t meet federal standards for 2007.
That’s too bad!
It seems that they are creating another sport car to create continuity for Ford GT in 2007, using a lot of characteristics from the Shelby Cobra from 1960. An early concept car was presented in 2004, at North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
More information were given at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in Monterey, where the Ford Motor Company group vice president admitted that Ford Shelby Cobra concept was a small step from their plans for Ford GT future.
The Ford Shelby GR-1 is front-engined, 2 seater, powered with 6.4 liter, V10 engine, that develops 605 hp at 6,750 rpm and 501 lb/ft of torque at 5,500 rpm. It presents a 6 speed manual transmission and we estimate for it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4 seconds.
The appearing may be in 2007 or 2008 and can offer great competition to Viper and Corvette.
