The First Flying Car in The World!

It’s as real as it seems! An israeli engineer invented the X-Hawk, a flying vehicle inspired by helicopters.

Believe it or not, the Israel is very close to develop what the Science Fiction enthusiasts have waited since they got their hands on the first SF book: the flying machine. It’s called X-Hawk, it’s created by an israeli engineer and will be ready for exhibition as a prototype in the year 2009.

The developer is Rafi Yoeli, an ex-employee of the world wide known Boeing and Israel Aircraft companies. The car is beeing inspired by the technology used for helicopters, having a serie of helixes and sensors incorporated in the car’s body, which make possible for the car to maintain a safe distance from the high voltage lines and, eventually other flying objects.

X-hawk takes off and lands vertically, can reach the speed of the 250 kmph and it reaches a 3.7 kilometers altitude. It is capable to transport ten passengers and can maintain flight for about two hours.

The concept seems really interesting, but it has it’s problems: if the investitors will see a bright future of the project, each exemplary will cost for about 1.5 million euros. That means the cost of two lightweight helicopters. The vehicle will be classified as a VTOL (Vertical Take Off and Landing) and helicopters.

Anyways, unfortunatelly, the vehicle will not be destined for the hands of the SF enthusiasts, but for the army, firemen, ambulance. At least, the first step has been done, we’ll wait quiet and anxious for the next ones.
