The most dangerous streets in UK
Many policemen from UK have named as the most dangerous road a short section of highway in Lancashire. Only at the 15 mile stretch of the A682, between junction 13 of the M65 and Long Preston has seen almost 100 deaths in the last time and it seems that is the only road in the highest risk category. This report was published by the Road Safety Foundation for the EuroRap (European Road Assessment Programme). It seems that there are also 16 road sections which present a medium to high risk for traffic users, resulting 10 times the number of deaths and serious injuries of UK’s best roads.
After this road there is A54 Congleton to Buxton in Derbyshire and the A683 from junction 34 of the M6 to Kirkby Lonsdale in Cumbria. It seems that A682 fails on every collision type, like: overtaking crashes, access road crashes pedestrian collisions, cyclist collisions, motorcycle crashes, etc. Here, the result is the equivalent of 5 major rail crashes within 10 years.
That’s why, UK’s authorities have brought in consideration to tackle a higher risk routes in their areas.
So, you better take care when you are driving in UK… and not only!
